Poetry : Assumptions

Assumptions

Darling, I listen to your conclusion

As you chant your long premise

Providing evidence upon evidence

Face smug, and your smile crooked

You assume you have me in a corner

But sweetheart, when I listen to you

To the words that come out of your lips

I also hear the words that don't

The weak assumptions you made

The deceptive suppositions you hold

The unsaid presumption you clutch

The hidden facts & the unsaid truth

And I can poke holes in the lies you spew

Darling, this loud music might deafen me

But I can still hear what's unsaid
